HI NRG Radio #1, and more!
An update on what's going on at HI NRG this coming week, 5/7 through 5/11
Hello!
We have many fun announcements: new roasters joining the fray, old DJs spinning tunes, HI NRG’s own tunes and swag being released…
But first, coffee.
Another washed coffee will kick us off on batch filter this coming Wednesday, and it’ll be taking us through most of the weekend. It’s called Abricotine, a washed Ethiopian coffee from Dak: peachy, black tea, floral, a pleasant morning sipper.
On pourover, we have the last of the Hamasho roasted by Tanat FKA Kawa Coffee Roasters from Paris. A natural Ethiopian coffee, this is one of our favorites from them—vibrant, sumptuously floral, very naturally sweet. We still have some bags of it available for retail as well. Once that is through, we’ll be rotating in the legendary Letty Bermudez roasted by Hydrangea over in Berkeley. This coffee is a Thermal Shock Gesha, a milky peach oolong delight.
We’re giddy to announce a new roaster, Push Pull coffee from up in Portland, OR, that’ll be joining the retail shelf, along with Dak, Tanat, and Flowerchild. Push Pull specializes in the fruitier stuff, like anaerobic, natural, and honey-processed coffees, so they’ll fit right in to the HI NRG coffee family. We’ll start brewing their coffees in a couple weeks.
In other big news, the HI NRG T-shirts have arrived. Designed by fellow old Japanese vehicle enjoyer and Sacramento-based designer/legend Tynan Collins, the tee sports depictions of Luis in his iconic ‘88 Toyota MR2 and Nathan in the boxy 2000 Honda Elite 80. We still have some shirts available in small, medium, and large.
On to music:
HI NRG Radio Vol. 1 has just dropped, a mix by our very own Luis G, pioneering the new HI NRG Soundcloud space. If you’re a barista, this’ll surely get your cafe-goers’ heads bobbing. Throw it on the cans while you’re tidying up at home. We here at HI NRG HQ like to bump it while going on a beautiful bike ride through San Francisco.
In other music news, we’ll be joined by Maddy aka Chaos Universe on the ol’ ones and twos. From Yellow Magic Orchestra to Arthur Russell, she always graces us with the smoothest sounds. As always, she’ll be spinning on the Second Sunday of this month, which is this Sunday 5/11 from 9a to 2p.
We hope to see you this week.
xoxo LG&NK
